The
Bedroom and
Bathroom
Whether you’re
staging a
bedroom, dining
room, family
room or
whatever, it’s
important you
concentrate on
the focal points
of a room. The
focal point is
that part of the
room that is
unique or
appealing. It
could be a
fireplace, a bay
window, hardwood
floors,
cabinetry, or on
this case we’re
going to focus
on the bed.
We’re going to
apply the three
step system to
the master
bedroom and
bathroom and see
what we come up
with.
So let’s get
started.
Wheww, that was
a lot of work!
Remember you
should make your
carpets looks
great! If they
need to be
replaced that
will probably be
better off in
the long run
then giving a
carpet
allowance. But
it will
definitely be
worthwhile to
get them
professionally
cleaned.
And don’t forget
the closet.
You’ve got to
make your
closets appear
roomy even if
they’re not.
That is going to
take some major
de-cluttering.
Since clothes
are light a
great moving box
for this part of
the house are
the large moving
boxes. Not only
do you want your
floors clear but
your shelves
should be neat,
roomy and
organized. And
thin out your
hanging clothes.
Wardrobe moving
boxes are
fantastic for
your hanging
clothes –
they’re just
like portable
closets!
Get rid of
anything you’re
not going to use
or that’s out of
season. Store
away- again, off
site if
possible.
The Bathroom
should be
cleared of all
personal items
and put away in
an easy to
access basket or
bag that could
be used and put
away each day.
And make sure
the trash is put
away under the
sink each day.
Now not only do
we need to dust,
vacuum and clean
up in the
bedroom but the
bathroom is
where we put the
DEEP in Deep
Clean!
For obvious
reasons this has
the potential to
be the dirtiest
room in the
house so you
need to scrub
here, scrub
there, scrub
everywhere:
Sinks, tubs,
toilets, vents,
fans, mirrors,
and showers.
Make sure to get
those hard to
reach places
like in the
shower track or
the small of
your back!
Once again we’ve
cleared the
canvass so let’s
Design to sell!
The first thing
we want to
evaluate is the
furniture
arraignment.
This can have a
huge impact on
the way your
room is
perceived by
people. And
although it can
be very
practical to
line furniture
all along walls,
especially in
family and
living rooms.
Believe it or
not this can
actually make
your room appear
smaller!
If you must line
it all against
the walls pull
it out 6-8
inches. Also,
angling your
furniture makes
your room more
interesting, and
many times
pulling a couch
and chairs into
a sitting area
around a
fireplace or bay
window is a
great way to
focus on the
focal point of a
room.
Second, we’re
going to paint
the room a
neutral color
and your Take it
to the Bank Tip
#3 is updating
accessories is a
great way to
make your room
look great
without putting
money into
someone else’s
home.
If you could use
a new bed set,
curtains, or
even a towel set
then now is the
time to get it.
An easy way to
get everything
to match is just
by a bed in a
bag or even a
room in a bag.
It’s all laid
out for you no
with not much
thinking at all,
and you can go
to a local Paint
store to find a
matching neutral
paint color.
With this
bedroom and
bathroom we’re
going to replace
the bedspread
and window
treatments and
draw the bedroom
and bathroom
together with
matching colors,
and update the
fixtures to
match the
faucets.
Wow that looks
great!
