The
Kitchen
The kitchen is
the heart and
soul of almost
any home. And it
is imperative
that it shows
well. We eat,
entertain and
certainly cook
in this room.
Maybe even three
times a day.
So just like the
outside, the
first thing we
need to do is
De-Clutter.
Believe it or
not you’ll
probably want to
start in your
cabinets. Not
only do your
cabinets need to
appear roomy and
organized but
you also need to
be able to put
your small
appliances that
normally set on
your counters
down here and
out of the way.
So get some
small moving
boxes and load
up the extra
canned goods and
stuff.
Clear out
anything you
aren’t going to
use for a little
while and pack
it away. Then
you’ll have room
for things that
you will use but
don’t want to
leave out.
Everything needs
to be removed
from the kitchen
so you’ll be
able to clean,
repair, and add
back items to
Showcase your
kitchen.
And the
refrigerator is
a clutter
magnet.
Literally. And
we want to get
that all cleared
off.
And of course
you probably
have an area
that you have
your daily bills
and things. This
needs to not
only be tidied
up but left
completely
empty.
Now that we’ve
cleared it all
out and packed
it up the next
step is
critical. Deep
clean and
repair.
Scrub and scrub
until you can’t
scrub anymore!
•
Tile and grout,
•
Exhaust fans,
filter, and hood
•
The sink needs
to be completely
cleaned so it
has that new
look and smell
again. You can
actually buy
things to remove
that smell that
might be
lingering. And
remember dishes
need to always
be put in
dishwasher and
run everyday.
•
If you have a
window ledge and
blinds dust and
clean and….(grab
trash can) empty
your trash
daily.
•
Appliances
inside and out
should be
cleaned and if
you can’t get
those burner
pans cleaned –
replace them.
•
Also no leaky
faucets or
broken outlet
covers.
Not bad, not bad
at all. Now that
we’ve cleaned it
up and packed it
up let’s really
make it pop.
Let’s Design to
Sell.
First thing
we’re going to
do is get rid of
and out date
wallpaper and
paint it a
neutral color.
If you have
borders,
wallpaper or
just really out
of the ordinary
paint on your
walls you should
seriously
consider
replacing that
with a fresh,
neutral coat of
paint.
And that’s your
“Take to the
Bank Tip #2” –
“Painting gives
you the most
bang for your
buck.”
Paint is
inexpensive and
one of the best
ways to improve
a room’s
appearance
especially if it
has something
that isn’t going
to appeal to
most everyone.
And remember –BE
CAREFUL – don’t
get the paint on
the trim or
ceiling or
anywhere else it
doesn’t belong.
With a little
caution and some
of this painting
tape you can do
wonders to your
rooms. And if
you don’t want
to paint- hire
it out.
Well now that
we’ve whipped
that out we’re
going to add
back some of the
accents always
in threes,
remember less is
more.
What a great
transformation!
