5-6 Room Bigger Boxes Kit #5
Grandma’s lived a long, happy life in the old farm house. She doesn’t want to leave, but all you kids made the decision it was time to move her into assisted living. Your brothers and sisters scheduled a work weekend with the big move to take place the following. You were in charge of rounding up boxes for moving and all the moving supplies needed to get grandma into her new place. The little three-bedroom house packed a lot of special memories…some for grandma to take and some for each of you siblings. Even though you live 66 miles south, you were still able to order the moving boxes and moving supplies online and have them shipped directly to grandma’s house FOR FREE! The boxes arrived before the “crew” – and were ready to do their job when you got there! Grandma was impressed…”Thems are some nice carton boxes, son. Why, back in my day, we had to walk ten miles uphill both ways in the snow to the nearest grocer for wooden carton boxes! Took us a full week to collect what we needed – they was nice, but not like these. No siree, these is real nice!”
After you opened the box of moving supplies, granny just about fell out of her rocker! “And we didn’t have tape neither, or them fancy guns! All we got was some string neighbor Betty spun on her cotton wheel! And we sho as Sam Sneed didn’t have none of that there poppin’ bubble wrap stuff! Now this here brown packin’ paper…we used this for wrappin’ butchered cow – then we’d throw it in the meat safe and eat on it for weeks! Weren’t none of these perm-a-nant markers when I was a youngin’ – we just dipped our fingers in the fireplace ash and scribbled a message, that’s assumin’ we could read and write, ya know.” As if all that weren’t enough, granny pulled out the Pièce de résistance, the box knife. “Ooooo nelly! Now this is special! We useta make knives outta rocks! You kids are spoiled, ya know that?” It was a fun adventure packing up Grandma. She enjoyed telling her stories while you filled each moving box to the brim. Everyone went home with a box full of memories, and granny kept her favorites. As a special gift to her, you left a sheet of bubble wrap in her rocker for the first night’s entertainment in her new place. Welcome home, granny!
